Privacy Policy

Apex Life is a community app for drivers. This policy explains exactly what we collect, why we collect it, and how you stay in control.

Who we are

Apex Life ("we", "us") operates the Apex Life website and mobile apps. We are the controller of the personal data described below. You can reach us any time at support@apexlifedrive.app.

What we collect

  • Account data — email address and authentication credentials, handled by our authentication provider. We never see or store your password in readable form.
  • Profile data — name, username, age, city and state, bio, interests, and the photos you upload.
  • Vehicle and garage data — the vehicles, specifications, modifications, journal entries, and photos you add.
  • Precise location — only while you are actively recording a drive. We capture GPS coordinates, speed, heading, altitude, and accuracy to build your route and drive statistics. Recording never starts on its own: you press start, and you can pause or stop at any time.
  • Social activity — connections, swipes, matches, messages, team memberships, event RSVPs, performance results, and notifications.
  • Billing data — subscription status, plan, renewal dates, and a payment-processor customer reference. Card numbers go directly to Stripe; we never receive or store them.
  • Device and diagnostic data — app version, platform, and a push notification token if you enable notifications.

How we use it

We use your data to operate the service: create and secure your account, show your profile and garage to other members according to your privacy settings, match you with drivers, deliver messages, record and display your drives, run teams and events, process subscriptions, and send notifications you have opted into. We also use aggregate, non-identifying activity data to keep the service reliable and to prevent abuse.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it to serve third-party advertising.

Who we share it with

Other members see only what your privacy settings allow — your profile, garage, and any drive you mark public, team-only, or friends-only. Drives are private by default.

Service providers process data on our behalf under contract: Supabase (database, authentication, file storage), Stripe (payments, tax, and fraud handling), and Apple and Google (push notification delivery on mobile). We disclose data to authorities only when legally required.

Location data in detail

Location is the most sensitive data the app touches, so it gets its own rules. The app requests location permission only when you first start a drive. Coordinates are recorded only while a drive is running and the app is open and on screen; recording pauses if you lock the phone or switch apps, and stops the moment you end the drive. The app does not collect location in the background.

Saved routes belong to you. Each drive has its own privacy setting, and you can delete any drive, which removes its route and all recorded GPS samples.

Your rights and choices

  • Access and correct your profile, garage, drives, and performance data in the app.
  • Change your email or password in Settings.
  • Turn individual notification categories on or off in Settings.
  • Block or report other members.
  • Delete your account and all associated data from Settings, or from our account deletion page.
  • Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to export your data, object to processing, or lodge a complaint with your data protection authority. Email us and we will help.

Retention

We keep your data while your account is active. When you delete your account, your profile, vehicles, drives, GPS samples, photos, messages, and social records are removed. We retain limited billing and transaction records where tax and accounting law requires it, and backups roll off on their normal schedule.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access to your records is enforced at the database level by row-level security policies, so one member cannot read another member's private data. Uploaded photos are served through short-lived signed links.

Children

Apex Life is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect data from minors. If you believe a minor has created an account, contact us and we will remove it.

Changes

We will update this page when our practices change and revise the date above. Material changes will also be announced in the app.
